Congratulations to the winners of the 2014 Molecular Engineering Showcase poster competition, held May 19, 2014 at the UW HUB. More than 20 posters were exhibited on a wide-range of topics in biotechnology and clean technology. Poster session and reception guests were asked to vote on their favorites in three categories:
*Best overall poster
*Best oral presentation
*Best poster design
The grand prize winner for best overall poster was Kurt Kung and his research poster “Energy Harvesting from Water.” Kurt won a $750 travel award to be used to present research at a professional conference in the future.
The other winners included Katherine Mazzio for best oral presentation, “A one pot CdSe-P3HT hybrid material synthesis and photophysical studies” (winner of a Samsung Galaxy tablet with Mini Microscope lens); and Jason Ross for best poster design “Monolayer Light Emitting Diodes based on WSe2 p-n junctions” (winner of a $100 Amazon Gift Card.)
In addition to the poster session, guests at the Molecular Engineering Showcase heard from six different UW faculty and industry speakers who presented their research in biotechnology and clean technology.
Thanks to the following for sharing their research:
