Facilities

The Institute resides primarily in the Molecular Engineering and Sciences Building on the UW campus, though our faculty and students can be found across campus and in downtown Seattle. Dedicated to the advancement of interdisciplinary molecular-scale research, the building is home to faculty research groups from the College of Engineering, College of Arts & Sciences, and School of Medicine. The building is also home to the Institute's Molecular Analysis Facility (MAF), a state-of-the-art characterization facility open to researchers from academia, industry, and government. Researchers can utilize the MAF's extensive microscopy, spectroscopy, and surface science instruments to characterize novel molecular assemblies and improve the design of biomedical devices, drug delivery systems, solar cells, photonic sensors, and more.
